WORK EXPERIENCE

1995-PresentAttending psychologist and only neuropsychologist, adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit, McAuley Institute at St. Mary’s Medical Center, San Francisco; licensed Attending Psychologist since March 2002.  Duties include conducting daily individual and family therapy sessions. At present, the only Spanish-speaking attending psychologist, therefore work with all the Spanish-speaking patients. Provide on call services 2-3 weekends/month.

2006-Present:Neuropsychologist for Preventive Psychiatry Associates Medical Group, Inc.

Forensic cases: Alleged Personal Injury, Psychological Trauma and Sexual Abuse cases.

Neuropsychologist for Children’s Psychological Health Center, Inc. performing cognitive assessments and clinical follow-ups on treated children. Conduct research in cognitive and clinical outcomes of in-classroom psychotherapy for disturbed young children.

Neuropsychologist for Youth Guidance Center in San Francisco (aka Juvenile Hall). Conduct competency evaluations, psychological evaluations, and neuropsychological evaluations for detainees from ages 11 to 18. These are cases in which the assessments are requested by the court/probation office. These requests require recommendations for placement, treatment, and disposition.

Frequently testify regarding the competency of juveniles to stand trial, the best disposition and placement/treatment options and the risk to the community if they are to be released from custody. Work closely with the public defenders, the probation officers and the staff at the Youth Guidance Center.

Expert witness appearances in eight juvenile hall cases since January 2007.

PRIVATE CLINICAL THERAPEUTIC PRACTICE

2004-2008Private practice with Jules Weiss, M.D. performing pediatric and adult neuropsychological assessments and Learning Disability assessments.

CONSULTANCIES

2004-2007Consultant for San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute Early Childhood Development Program for Development Program for 15 hours a week. Duties included meeting with teachers and principal for staff psychological support at Bret Harte Preschool in the Hunter’s Point-Bayview area of San Francisco. Led play groups of 3-4 preschoolers once a week for several years.

Neuropsychologist and consultant for the Nueva School for the Gifted in Hillsborough, California. Tested students for admission to Nueva School.

SUPERVISORY SERVICES:

2005-2006Supervisor under Dr. Jerry Michaels, head of doctoral education, at Alliant University in San Francisco; supervised four students who performed neuropsychological testing as part of their doctoral candidacies.
2002-2003:Consulting neuropsychologist with Family Mosaic, a San Francisco City program. Duties included conducting psychological and neuropsychological assessments with children and adolescents. Expert witness in numerous cases involving child custody and termination of parental rights. Testified in three cases in 2003.

Contracted neuropsychologist with San Francisco Foster Care Mental Health. Assessed children and adolescents for Learning Disabilities as well as neuro/psychological deficits.

ADULT ASSESSMENTS

2003-2008Assessment of adults for fitness to parent. Testified in four parental rights cases in 2003. Completed two dependency/fitness to parent/reunification cases in 2006 and three in 2007; three were in Alameda County and two were in San Francisco County. Prepared extensive testimony for Plaintiff’s attorney regarding Fitness to Parent/Dependency in case versus City of Alameda.
2003-2008:Private Consultant to Jonathan Canick, Ph.D., Chief of Neuropsychology at California Pacific Medical Center. Conducted neuropsychological assessments and consulted on Rorschach scoring and interpretations.

2000-2001:Psychological Assistant to Dr. Jan Gregory, Ph.D. Administered and scored psychological/neuropsychological test batteries for private patients (child, adolescents, adults) as well as adolescents on the inpatient unit at McAuley Institute.
1999-2000:Post-doctoral internship at McAuley Institute, Inpatient Adolescent Unit. Duties: Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Psychological and Neuro-Psychological Assessments. Worked with both English and Spanish-speaking patients and families.

1993-1995:Practicum at Laguna Honda Hospital, San Francisco. Assessment intern; administered, scored, and wrote reports of psychological and neuropsychological batteries. Population: Mostly geriatric, some adults and young adults. 1100 bed hospital. Worked with patients with Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s Chorea, ALS, Muscular Dystrophy, strokes, Korsikoff’s Syndrome, and various types of brain damage due to vascular insults, accidents and severe substance abuse. Also worked on AIDS end-stage unit and hospice unit.
1992-1993:Belle Haven Primary School in East Palo Alto. Psychological and neuropsychological assessment for children from kindergarten through eighth grade for various kinds of learning disabilities, neurological problems and psychological problems. Responsibilities included feedback to teachers and parents, family counseling.
1991-1992:Centerpoint, San Rafael, drug rehabilitation outpatient and day treatment center. Led group therapy, worked with patients in individual therapy and substance abuse counseling.
